The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to launch new Rs 1,000 notes with the inset letter “R” in both numbering panels in Mahatma Gandhi Series 2005.
There would be no change in the design of the notes except for the rupee symbol.
Previously issued notes in the denomination of Rs 1,000 by the RBI will continue to be legal tender.Banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series 2005 were introduced in 1996.

Mumbai police resorts to lathicharge to disperse the mob protesting against Toilet Waste Management Project scam.
A protestor was injured and was rushed to hospital.
The injured tells that they were protesting against crores of scam and the delay made iby municipality in Toilet Waste Management Project.
He added that we were thrown out of municipality office on 15 th February and today when we were protesting against the scam police started thrashing up with batons.
